Title: The Maw-Speaker
Role: Visionary hunter, interpreter of “The Great Fin,” spiritual leader of the Ryautjan tide-walkers.
In the sweltering jungles of Nar’Rok, a hunting pack of Ryautjan Kroot stumbled upon a void-shard—a fragment of the great cosmic shark, burned from its skin as it passed near a collapsing star. Most went mad from the psychic pressure.
Only one knelt.
Ka'Vash’Ek, once a blood-drenched hunter of elite prey, was transformed. His skin blackened with strange sigils, and he began speaking in pulse-toned clicks no Kroot had uttered before—almost T’au, but deeper.
He claimed the beast had spoken.
“We do not hunt the galaxy anymore. We are part of its digestive cycle.
We are not predators. We are enzymes.
The Great Fin moves. The Greater Good feeds through us.”
Ka'Vash’Ek teaches that:
The Ryautjan were chosen by the Star-Tide not to hunt prey, but to “prepare” it.
Honorable combat is sacred—every kill is an offering.
Predation becomes prophecy—by consuming DNA, they absorb more of the Great Fin’s plan.
Wears armor made from obsidian shark-tooth relics—claimed to be grown from the void-shard.
Carries a double-bladed glaive styled like a dorsal fin, etched with flowing T’au’nu glyphs and Ryautjan blood markings.
Constantly accompanied by two “Finbound”—mute Kroot who have consumed only aquatic or abyssal DNA and resemble sleek, sharklike hunters.
Even T’au Ethereals are wary of his presence—but they tolerate him, as Ryautjan who follow Ka'Vash’Ek are disciplined, loyal, and terrifyingly effective.
His cult of Ryautjan, known as “The Maw Pack”, serve as purifiers on planets targeted for annexation. They soften resistance by terror and by ritual.
“The stars churn like blood in the water. The galaxy is wounded. We are the teeth that cleanse the wound. Swim with us, or sink.”
